What it would cost to buy every combination
At today’s official prices, one line of every possible combination would cost:
| Lottery | Combinations | Cost of all of them | Record jackpot |
|---|---|---|---|
| Powerball | 292,201,338 | US$584,402,676 | US$2.04 billion (7 November 2022) |
| Mega Millions | 290,472,336 | US$1,452,361,680 | US$1.6 billion (8 August 2023) |
| EuroMillions | 139,838,160 | €349,595,400 | €250 million, the cap (several times) |
| SuperEnalotto | 622,614,630 | €622,614,630 | €371 million (16 February 2023) |
Only Powerball and Mega Millions have ever had jackpots bigger than the cost of every combination, and even then buying them all wouldn’t pay: the advertised jackpot is paid over 30 years (the cash value is about half), it can be shared, and tax comes off. Every line has exactly the same chance; no system changes the odds.
