$100,000,000 equals Australian Powerball’s Largest Lottery Jackpot Ever
Powerball fever has hit Australia. The jackpot soared to an incredible $100 Million on Thursday and equals the largest jackpot Australian Powerball has ever offered in the game’s 23-year history.
The next draw will take place this Thursday in Australia. Your opportunity to participate in this historic draw cuts off on Wednesday. Time is running out.
In the lead-up to last week’s $80,000,000 draw, long queues formed at lottery retailers throughout Australia as the draw drew near.
Demand for tickets was so high that results were delayed for almost 2 and a half hours on the night they were initially announced. “Due to the large volume of entries from across Australia in tonight’s $80 million Powerball draw, the regular process of validating every entry has taken a little longer than usual. We apologize for the delay,” Australia’s official lottery provider, The Lott, posted online.
When everything was said and done, there were no Division One winners and the jackpot rolled over again for the 8th consecutive week to its current amount of $100,000,000.
It is expected that up to one in three Australian adults will have an entry into this week’s Powerball draw.
Bigger Jackpots, More Winners!
In April 2018 in order to create more winners in every draw and offer bigger jackpots, the Australian Powerball lottery made changes to its format.
Since that change we have already seen the Australian Powerball Jackpot reach $100,000,000 once in August of 2018 – a jackpot that was shared between two lucky winners.
As part of the format change, a ninth prize division was created and the odds of winning any prize improved to 1 in 44.
Australian Powerball Specifications
Australian Powerball draws seven main numbers from a pool of 1-35 coupled with a Powerball drawn from a separate pool of 20 numbers.
To win the Division One jackpot prize, punters must match all seven main numbers plus the Powerball.
If there are no Division 1 prize winners, the jackpot prize pool rolls over to the next draw and the jackpot climbs even further.
Prizes are awarded in a lump sum.
Australian Powerball features 9 prize divisions in total. A prize can be won by matching as few as 2 main numbers plus the Powerball number in a single game.
With its massive prize pool and hundreds of thousands of winners each week, Powerball is Australia’s biggest official jackpotting lottery.
